Mis Who?

THE MISMIZERY STORY 🖤

Creation on my own terms. I am powerful. I am free. I'm MisMizery.

The art of MisMizery was born out of an obsessive dedication to escaping the confines of perfectionism (mostly self-inflicted) that also come with an award-winning 20+ year career in branding, graphic design and marketing. I challenge myself to create in a very free, unstructured, unplanned way and am teaching myself to accept my art for what it is.

My mantra when i approach a piece is this: "The way it is, is the way it's supposed to be".

Through my work, I advocate for acceptance in all its forms. It is equally important to me to try to break free from gender stereotypes in art; I'm embracing femininity in my own form by bringing to life darkness, power and freedom in my work.

WHY NFTS?

For many many years I daydreamed and plotted as to how I could break into the art scene. Fear and self doubt overtook me; the task seemed daunting and I constantly told myself i wasn't good enough. It was my belief that if i couldn't paint something as good as the Mona Lisa, that I wasn't worthy. It wasn't until I stumbled upon NFT artwork and the blockchain in 2019, that a path opened up for me. I could see a way for me to express myself and be accepted. It was here that I found my confidence, the tools and a supportive community that helped to put my vision into the world. It has been an interesting journey and I'm excited to say i have been a part of this historical time.

🖤

The MisMizery kingdom is ruled by the miserable heart symbol. Don't be fooled, it doesn't mean the work is miserable or the message is negative. I want my work to empower those who overthink things, who don't think they are good enough; you are. I want to encourage women to embrace whatever femininity means to them, in whatever form it might be. I also hope my work is a place where those who might need a boost of confidence, power, solitude, can go to find it.

There is beauty in darkness, you just have to know where to find it.

"There are many many more shades and colours to darkness than just black." — Martin Eric Ain • Bass, Hellhammer/Celtic Frost
